Reviewing ‘French Kiss’ and ‘Scandal’ from the Bid Adieu list of Pure Ice

Out of the 28 Pure Ice shades that are to be discontinued soon, I chose to review ‘French Kiss’ and ‘Scandal’. I thank Pure Ice Nail Polish for giving me this opportunity as Pure Ice has been my favorite brand of nail paints ever since I had first stumbled upon them.

Starting with my review of French Kiss, which I had been trying to find for some time now at Walmart! It is a fantastic shade of blue – highly pigmented, creamy, super-shiny and bright. For the blue lovers like me – this is definitely a true steal! It is quite opaque in one coat and looks better and darker in 2-3 coats. French Kiss can be worn alone or with a top coat of glitters, for those perfect weekend hangout nails.

Here are a few swatches of French Kiss.
 French Kiss - 1 coat

French Kiss - 2 coats with ring finger as the accent nail

French Kiss - 2 coats with a top coat of Sally Hansen Aisle Be There

The formula works great and the bottle comes with an easy to apply brush. The polishes dry up quite fast and can be worn for minimum 3-4 days without any topcoat.

French Kiss is on the lines of Zoya Breezi, OPI Orge-The-Top Blue or Sally Hansen Brisk Blue, but this color is more royal. A must try for everyone, especially the blue lovers. I am not sure why this one is being discontinued, because like the memory of first French Kiss, this one is sure to linger in my mind forever!

‘Scandal’ is aptly named, dark, deep burgundy crème in the bottle, but looks darker on nails than in the bottle, after 2 or more coats. At one coat, the color is streaky (I didn’t like the look), but looks almost black after 2-3 coats. It has a nice jelly-like consistency, dries really fast for a dark shade. You might want to wear a base coat to avoid staining of nails. Scandal is glossy without a top coat and can be worn with glitter or silver or white crackle.

Below are the swatches with two coats of Scandal.

Burgundy-black nails look elegant on every skin tone, especially during the fall/winter season. They go great with almost every outfit. This leaves me wondering again why this color is being discontinued.

Scandal resembles OPI Lincoln Parf After Dark, Loreal Breaking Curfew, Essie Wicked, Orly Naughty or Nice, but is not particularly a dupe for any of these colors.

As these two shades are to be discontinued soon, go grab them before they vanish off the shelves. Pure Ice is sold at Walmart and comes in a wide range of shades. Priced at $1.97 (0.5 Fl Oz), this brand is a true value for money compared its higher priced counterparts.
